2. A site at the Westward of the City of Victoria, about one mile and three quarters from the Post Office, recently surrendered by the Military.
3. A site in the Happy Valley to the Eastward of Victoria, about one Mile and a quarter from the Post Office, and some little distance inland from the sea.
4. Causeway Bay - a little further to the Eastward than 3., a site which would require to be reclaimed from the Sea.
Being anxious to ascertain the views and wishes of the Mercantile Community upon a matter in which they are deeply interested, I referred the question to a committee consisting of the Surveyor General and the three non-official members of the Legislative Council, and transmit herewith a copy of their Report, from which it will be seen that, for the reasons therein explained, they unanimously...
